I love meat.
I love how meat tastes, I love the texture, and especially cooking it. When a slab of beef is sizzling in a pan there is no better and more satisfying feeling in the world. That slab of meat means many things. First of all, that life cannot be that bad if you are able to procure and cook it and, second, that you are able to make your own meals. The meanings abound to me that you are healthy enough to stand on your own two meet and make a meal. Anyways…
Fitness and diet. These have been two subjects on my mind for well over 15 years. I have tried all the diets out there. Paleo was great, because it was simple, relativity cheap, taught me how to cook for myself, and helped me lose the most fat in my life. I never tried keto simply for the reason that it was more complicated that paleo and seemed for expensive. A few years ago I began experimenting with fasting and though I believe I have had many benefits with fasting I always remember that time years ago when I did paleo for three months, ate breakfast everyday (no fasting), lifted weights and did sprints twice a week. I was the fittest I have ever been.
So now I will be embarking on my next diet campaign. For the next 30 days I will only be doing the carnivore diet. Quite frankly, I am excited. Yesterday I wrote down a list of foods that I would be eating:
1- steak, chicken, pork, fish
2- eggs and egg whites
3- butter
4- my usual two cups of black coffee in the mornings
5- protein shakes (I have a container of whey isolate with around 1 carb per serving). This is not a perfect carnivore diet and I may or may not exclude this last one.
On top of this very short list, I may or may not be consistently making breakfast for the first time in about four years. I have firmly been in the school of fasted workouts but now I will try something new (or is it old?). Two days a week I will make breakfast, likely Tuesday and Thursday when I do not go to the gym. So this is not very different from my old fasting protocol, but I want to experiment with only occasional fasting now. If the results are good then perhaps I will even begin to eat breakfast on the days I lift as well, or, possibly reverse my fasting days and only meat one meal per day on Tuesday and Thursday.
I am excited to begin this journey. Right now I weigh around 76kg…I hope by the end of the month to have lost at least 4kg. Who knows? If I am successful with this endeavor then I may do this year round!
Thank you for reading.
