Resistance Bands: King of Home Workout Equipment?

For years I have been scouring the internet for the most superlative piece of fitness equipment in the effective/efficient category. Kettlebells seemed to me to fit the bill nicely. They are small and, though heavy, compact enough that storing one in your car during a road trip is very manageable. Kettlebells have a vast array of exercises and the benefits of them are lauded by most industry professionals to some degree. After a while all of this seemed self evident as I bought myself one and, sure enough, I loved my kettlebell and now use it every chance I get. It’s funny how sometimes the answer you are looking for has been under your nose the whole time. Well, to make a long story short, I have revised my opinion on this subject and chosen a new king for both the effective AND efficient categories of travel friendly workout equipment.

Enter the resistance band.

Compact? Yes. You can store several resistance bands in any travel setup I can imagine.

Efficient? Absolutely. There are almost no exercises you can do in the gym that cannot be replicated with bands.

Effective? Of course. The time under tension that your muscles will experience with bands is different from that of a dumbbell which lessens at the top of the move. Trust me…this feels unique and your muscles will appreciate the change.

My journey with resistance bands have only just begun, and in the coming weeks and months I will be writing about specific exercises and workouts you can do. I really believe these might be the GOAT of a very specific fitness niche. I am excited to share this experience with you and I hope you enjoy my coming thoughts and experiences with resistance bands.

I am not sure why I have always associated resistance bands with stretching. The person who changed my mind on bands was the one and only Jeff Cavaliere of Athlean-X fame. I highly suggest you go to his channel and watch his work on not only resistance bands but practically every video he has made. His channel is a gold mine and we are lucky to have someone so knowledgeable giving us free fitness advice.
